B. Distinguished Service Award presented to Edward Burke,
D.O. for 14 years of Secr./Treas position.
C. New Secr/Treas position; Steven J. Heithoff, D.O., Port
Huron, MI
D. Secr./Treas. Position to be 5 years, motion by Dr. Burke,
seconded by Dr. Heithoff and approved unanimously.
E. Position Status of Hand Section regarding Plastic and General
Surgeons taking the CAQ drafted, passed unanimously (see attached).
F. Officer Duties outlined and presented to members present.
Any corrections to be sent to central office (see attached).
G. CAQ Exam Status: Presented by Dr. Heithoff, AOBOS
Vice Chairman
1. Test successfully developed and administered, with
12 initial candidates sitting for exam on 9/26/98.
2. Dr. Richard Howard, Chairman, CAQ Test Committee congratulated
on excellent work, with test accomplished one year ahead of schedule.
3. Test Committee members may submit expenses to AOBOS
for reimbursement.
4. Certificates will be time dependent, will probably
qualify for Re-Certification status, and passing candidates will be notified
within 4-6 weeks.
H. Development Areas (included with Officer Duties, see
attached.) All members strongly encouraged to obtain email addresses.
All correspondence in near future to be done online.
I. Resident Rotations in Hand Surgery; Dr. Marc Treziak
announced the availability of resident training in hand surgery, with strong
emphasis toward trauma, and invited all members present to inform their
residents of the opportunity. Dr. Treziak was given a floppy disc
with membership directory for mailing.
I. Expenses of Atlanta cocktail reception still outstanding
and to be submitted to Hand Section office for reimbursement.
J. Third President-Elect nomination for Robert Barbosa,
D.O. However, Dr. Barbosa served as President 1988-89. Nominations
and election will therefore, be done by mail.
